What Game Science has said
Black Myth: Zhong Kui is the second title in the Black Myth series. Game Science describes it as a single-player action role-playing game whose primary creative inspiration is Zhong Kui of Chinese folklore.
The studio reports progress to players around August 20 each year. That date is a reporting habit, not a release date.
Timeline
- 2025-08-19 / 2025-08-20 — First public reveal at Gamescom Opening Night Live, with a CG teaser. Game Science said the project was in early development and had no in-game footage to share at that time.
- 2026-02-10 — A Chinese New Year in-engine special. Game Science presented it as a holiday piece, not as canon story footage.
- 2026-08-20 — A 15-minute gameplay trailer. Game Science said the footage came from a work-in-progress build captured at a 21:9 aspect ratio, and that the final release may differ.
Platforms and date
Game Science has said the game is intended for PC and mainstream console platforms. The final platform list will be confirmed before release.
No release date or release window has been announced. In the studio Q&A, the producer said he did not have a date.
